The present study was done for the purpose of examining the effectiveness of educational methods in a course of Nursing Process practice, and to analyze the factors influencing the students' understanding of their assessment steps. The subjects were second-year students at A Nursing school, and were studied over a period of three consecutive academic years from 1998 to 2000. The method involved student self-evaluations and questionnaires, followed by a statistical analysis of the differences between each of the three years, with respect to the students' understanding of the assessment itself, their attitude to studying, and their evaluation of their instructors. The results were as follows: 1.Four questionnaire items of the students' understanding of the assessment in 1999 were significantly higher than these items in1998. And one questionnaire item in 2000 was the assessment found to differ significantly higher than these items in 1999. 2.A11 three of the questions of students' attitude toward their studies in 1999 showed significantly higher than 1998. 3. Student's evaluation was not found to differ significantly between the classes of 1998 and 1999 by their evaluation of the instructor. 4. Students indicated that they found instruction time to be insufficient. This indicated a need for new lectures, common spaces for them to share information, and other such measures in the future.
