At Oomachi undergoes the heavy snowfall that reaches 3～4 m, the eaves was build every several houses from the 16th century middle when Yorii-machi of the Tochio castle was formed while, and was securing traffic. This the model the street with a snowy country original covered alley was formed Genna period(1615～1623) in Takada ,and in Kanei 19 (1642) in Nagaoka. Covered alley in the store after the 18th century middle becomes prosperous inside prefecture all area while, and be reaching at present.
