English Writing Classes and E-Mail Exchange between the Students of Nagaoka National College of Technology (NNCT) and University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) : an Interim Report

This paper is an interim report on an E-Mail Exchange project which has been conducted for 8 weeks between the students of NNCT in Japan and UNR in the U.S. It introduces some effective ways of exchanging e-mails, exclusively between the two schools above. Participants of both schools answered questionnaires before and after this project, which suggested that the topics of students e-mail writing should be guided partially from his/her instructor with a certain guideline and, at the same time, chosen freely by students based on their own interests. And the questionnaires also showed that the students need more than one week to complete their e-mail to send their partners.
