Present Status of Frequency and Measures on Rh-incompatibility in Pregnancy

The incidence of Rh incompatibility was 0.97% (29cases/2977cases of delivery) in 5 years and 8 months at Niigata City General Hospital. There were 17cases (0.57%) of RhD incompatibility. Among these 29 cases of Rh incompatibility,5 cases of RhE incompatible cases showed elevated antibody titer in their mother's serum,but no other cases of Rh incompatible blood type showed it. Three cases of RhE incompatible blood type babies showed positive direct Coombs Test at their delivery. These 3 babies were treated successfully by phototherapy and in one case with Rh immunoglobulin administration to mother during pregnancy. No exchange transfusion was experienced in this survey period. The earliest pregnancy week at which antibody titer against incompatible Rh blood type elevated was at 30th week in primigravida women.
