Discussion on the Psychological Support in Time of Disaster – from Experiences of the Great East Japan Earthquake –

In 2014, a workshop on psychological support in time of disaster was held at the 68th Tohoku PsychologyConference in Akita City, almost 5 years after the outbreak of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Speakers were, aclinical psychologist of welfare institution, a school counselor and a person in charge of refugee service of Akitaprefecture. The assessment of each client and affected area, individuality of psychological support, non-intrusivesupport, utilization of usual psychological support skills and collaboration among multi-professionals and nonprofessionalswere considered important for assistance in time of great disaster.
