A Study on The Fifth Plan for Total Arrangemnet of Senior High School in Akita Prefecture

The tendency toward childrenu27s decrease is increasing in Akita prefecture. The decrease of juniorhigh school graduates is leading to the cut of admittance capacity of public senior high schools. Thereforethe prefectural board of education decided the fifth plan which included various reform plans ofpublic senior high schools for next ten years. The plan proposed to make new-type conprehensiveschools by integration of minimum size schools, conversion of womenu27s schools to co-ed ones andestabilishment of six-year secondary schools. In Akita prefecture, there are large regional differeces onadmittance capacity of senior high schools. The improvement of those differences is also the task ofthe fifth plan.
