A wireless energy transfer system based on resonant energy transfer technology for power transmission and recharging of electrical devices is studied. The relationship between the energy transfer efficiency and several key parameters of the system is analyzed using finite-element method. Thin film resonant cells, consisting of a tape coil on one layer, which is separated by an insulation layer to form a capacitor with another layer, are fabricated. These cells are light, compact, and flexible, and provide convenience and flexibility in the design of wireless devices. The feasibility of this system is demonstrated using practical measurements to showcase its performance.
