Electronic learning systems : an analysis of the characteristics of adopters and non-adopters

Electronic learning (e-learning) systems have gained widespread acceptance as one of the valuable self-learning techniques for business organisations. The main objective of this research study is to elicit the factors affecting e-learning system use and to determine the difference between adopters and non-adopters of e-learning systems. Using a sample of 302 Hong Kong business organisations, results indicated that adopters have higher levels of technical support and individual information technology capabilities of e-learning systems rather than non-adopters. Adopters were more likely to have top management support as a champion than non-adopters for e-learning systems.
