A preliminary design of a coal burning 25,000H? naval ship propulsion plant was completed. The system consistsof a combined Closed Brayton cycle and bottoming RarJcinecycle. Coal combustion capability is achieved by using aPressurised Fluidized Bed (PFB) heater. A thermodynamicanalysis and volume estimate was conducted for various Braytoncycle compressor pressure ratios ( pi TC ) .
