The purpose of this investigation was to determine the feasibilityof using an analog computer to obtain the time derivative of the temperatureresponse of a compact heat exchanger surface subjected to a stepchange in incoming fluid temperature; and to investigate the effect ofthe ratio of flow length to hydraulic diameter (L/DH) on the heat transfer and flow fricition characteristics of compact heat exchanger surfaces.
