From Military to Medicare: Perceptions of City Leaders on the Effects of Converting a Closed Base Site into a Retirement Community

This study examines past community experiences with an increased elderly populationand compares the results with opinions reflected in a survey of community leadersanticipating a similiar demographic change. The perceptions are presented to determinethe extent of support and the predicted effects on the social, economic andpolitical characteristics of the community.
