The effect of high speed networking on operation of a previously developed paradigm for the system and software design of distributed systems is presented. The effect of high speed on the several design principles is discussed. The following aspects of design are discussed: use of objects, use of generalized modules, control of module interaction, separation of control and data, and management of state information.
