摘要

The allocation of spare parts for deployed Naval aircraftis delineated by an aviation consolidated allowancelist (AVCAL) . The current policy for stocking AVCAL 'shas been found inadequate to meet the Chief of NavalOperations 1 (CNO) goal for stockage level effectiveness.This led to the development of the Retail Inventory Model,Aviation (RIMAIR) as an alternative stockage policy.This thesis compares the two models on the basis ofstockage level effectiveness (ratio of demands filled tototal demands) and the availability afforded three hypotheticalsystems.The RIMAIR model allows the budget constraint to dictatestockage levels while the current policy is deterministic.However, RIMAIR stockage levels are bounded byboth a minimum and maximum constraint which limit its flexibility.As a result, RIMAIR stockage levels and total costare considerably higher than currently allowed. Theeffectiveness and availability measures are also muchhigher. A modified RIMAIR model provided increased effectivenessand availability on an equal cost basis with thecurrent policy.
