摘要

An introduction outlining the development of shipoperations in close proximity for underway replenishment isfollowed by a survey of the literature dealing with themeasurement of interaction effects between ships under suchcircumstances. A brief outline of the theoretical treatmentof ship motions in open water is given and followed by themodifications to the theory required for treatment of the ship two system. The applicable equations are written for calmwater and suitably linearized. The techniques of treatingthe differential equations as algebraic equations, and of" solving the equations by determinant evaluation are described,
