The design and construction of a Signal Selection Unitand four Spectrum Receivers for use in the Naval PostgraduateSchool's SATCOM Signal Analyzer are presented. The purposeof the SATCOM Signal Analyzer is to provide high-speed spectrumanalysis and characterization of the outputs of UHFcommunication satellite transponders in orbit. It is constructedaround a PDP-11/34 minicomputer which provides thenecessary control for most of the equipment of the system.Extremely accurate frequency measurement is provided by thefrequency receivers and signals for multi-channel spectrumanalyses are provided by the Spectrum Receivers. The SignalSelection Unit routes signals to the Spectrum, AM/FM, andFrequency Receivers. This report documents the design anddevelopment of the Spectrum Receivers and the Signal Selection Unit.
