摘要

This research aims at observing the descriptive study of teacher – students interaction in teaching-learning speaking using communicative language teaching at the second year of SMP N 2 Karanganom. Specifically, it purposes to describe the interaction between the teacher and the students in the speaking classroom, and to describe the problem faced by the teacher and the students in speaking classroom interaction at SMP N 2 Karanganom.ududThe data are in the form of information related to the interaction between teacher and students. In this research the data are from event, informant. There are three techniques in collecting the data, namely: observation, interview and document. The research uses the descriptive qualitative.ududThe researcher finds: First, the interaction that happens in teaching speaking using communicative language teaching at SMP N 2 Karanganom, dominated by teacher. It can be seen that the teacher’s talk time is longer than students. The percentage of teacher talk takes 52 % and student talk takes 36 %. Second, the writer finds some factors which become a problem in realizing a good interaction. The problems are : (1) the students do not want to take risk; (2) problem in vocabulary mastery; and (3) problem in grammar mastery.
