An Investigation was carried out on a pharmaceutical factory whichudis still in a construction stage to quantify all the sources ofudenergy usage. The major energy consumers were investigated andudcomparisons carried out with international standards to see ifudimprovements are required.udthe Performance Indicator of the building was determined acudl,6h6 GJ/a^ per operating year by simulating energy consumption.udA correlation between ambient dry bulb and building coolingudelectrical demand were established.udA monitoring and targeting instrumentation schedule was proposedudafter defining a targeting philosophy.udThe proposed building services were analysed and possible energyudcost saving Investments were identified and analysed by differentudcosting models to see the effect of the costing model on the type ofudproposal.udThe two proposals which showed financial viability are firstly, theudremoval of dehumidifier heat with evaporation which showed anudelectrical energy saving of 965.76 MJ p.a. and a payback period ofud2,9 years and secondly, the installation of high efficiency lightsudwhich showed a electrical energy saving of 76 MJ p.a. and a paybackudperiod of 0,62 years*
