10-METHOXY-IMINE-9-PHENANTHRENONE REACTS WITH STABLE AND SEMISTABLE YLIDES AND O-QUINONE-METHIDE IMINES ARE ISOLATED. SOME OF THEM ARE THERMALLY CYCLIZED TO CONDENSED HETERCYCLIC COMPOUNDS . 10-METHOXY-IMINE-9-PHENANTHRENONE REACTS WITH DIENOPHILES TO GIVE DIELS-ALDER PRODUCTS AND ALSO CONDENSED PYRIDINE DERIVATIVES . REACTIONS OF 10-METHOXY-IMINE-9-PHENANTHRENONE WITH METHYL- SUBSTITUTED AROMATIC COMPOUNDS LEAD TO THE FORMATION OF OXAZOLE- DERIVATIVES. 1,2-ACENAPHTHENEQUINONE-MONOXIME ALSO REACTS WITH STABLE AND SEMI-STABLE YLIDES AND THE RESPECTIVE O-QUINONE- METHIDE IMINES ARE FORMED. SEVERAL O-QUINONE-METHIDES OF 1,2- ACENAPHTHENEQUINONE REACT WITH NITROGEN COMPOUNDS TO GIVE PYRIDAZINE DERIVATIVES.
