Growth of street trees in the beach reclamation district-10-year records of street trees kept by citizen in Kaihinmakuhari Baytown, Chiba city, Chiba Prefecture-

摘要

We investigated growth of street trees for 10 species for ten years in the beach reclamation district, Kaihinmakuhari Baytown, Chiba city, Chiba Prefecture. Huge quantity of research data were collected by citizen. Our result shows tree species of Ulmus parvifolia, Machilus thunbergii. and Morella rubra are growing well in this study area, but Triadica sebifera, Aesculus x carnea and Liriodendron tulipifera are not growing well. Our study indicatesthat U. parvifolia, M. thunbergii and Morella rubra are suitable for street trees in the beach reclamation district,southern Kanto but T. sebifera, Aesculus x carnea and L. tulipifera are not suitable for street trees near coastalarea.
