Flower Bud Formation in Orchids. IV. Floral Initiation and Development in Oncidium sphacelatum Ldl., K. KOSUGI, M. YOKOI and H. YOKOBORI, Faculty of Horticulture, Chiba University, Matsudo, Japan. Tech. Bull. Fac. Hort. Chiba Univ., No.21: 31-35, 1973. Floral initiation and development in Oncidium sphacelatum were studied by dissecting the growing points of pseudobulbs and inflorescences weekly from May 25, 1970 to May 17, 1971. Inflorescence primordia were initiated at the axils of pseudobulb bases from early June and floret initiation occurred on the branched inflorescence in late December. Flowering was begun from June 2, 1971.
