Rerationships between Roadside Plantings and Pedestrian Behavior : A Case Study on the Sidewalk of an Ordinary Street in Chiba Seaside New Town

摘要

We analyzed the behavior of pedestrians on the several types of sidewalks of an ordinary street, and examined the effects of street trees and a hedges along the sidewalk for the pedestrian. The speed and the stride of the pedestrians fundamentally depend upon the existance of the other pedestrians within some distance and the age of the pedestrians. And a street tree and a hedge along the sidewalk effect on the position of the pedestrians and the direction of their eyes.
