Section 2 of the Health (Fluoridation of Water Supplies) Act, 1960, empowers the Ministerudfor Health to make Regulations as to the manner in which and the extent to which health authoritiesudshall arrange for the fluoridation of water supplied to the public by sanitary authorities throughudpipes. Before making such Regulations in respect of any health authority, the Minister must, underudthe same Section of the Act, cause to be made:uda survey of the incidence of dental caries in a representative sample of pupils attending full timeudday schools in the functional area or functional areas of the health authority or healthudauthorities to whom the regulations relate, andudcause to be presented to each House of the Oireachtas a report on the survey so made.
