Orchestral Conducting: Study and Performance of Orchestral Works by Haydn, Wagner, Strauss and Martinů

This project served as an immersive experience in orchestral conducting, which encompassed score study, ensemble organization, rehearsal and performance. The project was split into two distinct parts: First, in the fall semester of 2012, I rehearsed the Macalester Orchestra in Bohuslav Martinůu27s Memorial to Lidice and conducted the work in December of 2012. The second part occurred in the spring semester of 2013, when I assembled a chamber orchestra of Macalester students and community members to rehearse and perform a concert of three works: Franz Joseph Haydnu27s Notturno in C Major, Hob. II:25, Richard Wagneru27s Siegfried Idyll and Richard Straussu27s Serenade for Winds, Op. 7.
