摘要

Liquid waste is one of the waste that produced by traditional gold mining that contains mercury, which the existence can cause adverse effect on the environment. Zeolit and activated carbon is an adsorbent which capable the remove metals in wastewater. This research is true experimental study, with used method the pretest-posttest control group design. Data analysis used the Kruskall-Wallis that showed the difference of reduction of mercury levels between the adsorbent activated carbon, zeolite, and zeolite mix with activated carbon. With a sample size as much 36 and 9 times repetation. The result showed level of mercury in the pre-test was 4,1243 mg/L. The magnitude of the effect and the decrease of mercury levels by treatment with activated carbon filter media, zeolite, and zeolite mix with activated carbon at 99,82% and 0,0070 mg/L; 99,88% and 0,0047 mg/L; 99,97% and 0,0010 mg/L. In conclusion, there was the difference before and after given a treatment (Asymp.sig = 0,047) with adsorbents activated carbon, zeolit, and zeolite mix with activated carbon to reduce the levels of mercury in traditional gold mining wastewater in Jendi village, Selogiri distric, Wonogiri residence.
