Works or activities are one of people\u27s unavoidable habbit . One of those activities is goods transfer), which the processes not only occurs in big companies but also non-companies such as traditional markets. Good transfer activities in traditional markets are always done manually using people\u27s part of body.The bend-required lifting activities in the traditional markets – which is happened because of over strenuous imposition – caused a musculoskeletal disorder and other muscle disorders. Moreover, the design of wooden crates which is used for loading fruits are not good for people. That is why redesigning the crate which is used to load fruits in markets could improve the level of health and work safety, based on loading limits recommended by NIOSH. The empirical test showed value of lifting index (LI) with 30 Kg mass load of wooden crate resulted 5,31 value of LI. The value is extreme and risky, which may cause musculoskeletal disorder and other muscle disorders. After redesigned 3 alternatives of fruit crates in different size in order to get the best LI value that it should be LI <3. First design by 100x50 cm each crate and was stacked as many as 3 crates resulted 3,9 value of LI. This value is much far from tolerance limits recommended by NIOSH that the value is supposed to be LI <3. Second design by 60x50 cm each crate and was stacked as many as 5 crates resulted 3,5, value of LI, which is still too far from the limits recommended by NIOSH. The third alternative crate design by 50x50 cm and was stacked as many as 6 crates resulted 2,7, value of LI, and this value has meet the tolerance limits recommended by NIOSH.
