Business Strategies of SMEs Argentine publishers early XXI century

[Abstract] The publishing industry in Argentina recognizes origins in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, at this period dates the founding of some publishers that developed with particularities along the twentieth century. From the last decades of that century Argentina publishing industry went through a process of concentration and foreign ownership. Since then the sector presented a coexistence of large business groups and a patchwork of small and medium enterprises. Among the latter there are some that have a strong tradition in the publishing market and others that have emerged in the last twenty or thirty years. In this sense, the business strategies that these small publishers have implemented against the above mentioned scenario, its relationship with business organizations in the sector and its capacity to generate employment both professionals, technicians and unskilled workers are elements of fundamental analysis. In line with the above, this work aims to study historical perspective of the actions of small and medium enterprises in the sector, of different strategies that have been implemented to address the situation described and their role as catalysts of employment in the publishing sector in Argentina. Then, institutional publications and periodicals, statistics, key informant interviews that develop their business and professional activity within the sector, and analysis by researchers on the topic in question have been consulted.
