Electrets for measurement of background radiation dose and radon concentration in air

A survey is given about investigations on electrets and their application in environmental radioactivity measurement, which has been performed for the last few years in the Health Physics Division of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay, lndia. This survey includes preparation, handling, charge reading and application of electrets for background radiation dose as weil as radon concentration measurement in air.
