Representable Banach Spaces and Uniformly Gateaux-Smooth Norms

It is proved that a representable non-separable Banach space doesnot admit uniformly Gâteaux-smooth norms. This is true in particular for C(K)spaces where K is a separable non-metrizable Rosenthal compact space.
