This research project has been designed to providea national mapping and meta-evaluation of the keyfeatures of “safe at home” programs that enhancesafety and prevent homelessness for women and theirchildren who have experienced domestic and familyviolence. The project was undertaken in two phases.The first phase involved the preparation of a state ofknowledge paper providing a comprehensive reviewof the literature and a national mapping of current “safeat home” programs by jurisdiction, including detailsof legislation underpinning “safe at home” programsin each jurisdiction. In the second phase, the authorsundertook a meta-evaluation of select evidence aboutAustralian “safe at home” programs and practices. Thisreport presents the results of the meta-evaluation. Itconcludes with recommendations for future “safe athome” evaluations, as well as key considerations for“safe at home” responses in terms of core programelements, contexts and circumstances.
