AbstractudComputer simulation is a versatile andudcommonly used tool for the design andudevaluation of systems with different degrees ofudcomplexity. Power distribution systems andudelectric railway network are areas for whichudcomputer simulations are being heavily applied.udA dominant factor in evaluating the performanceudof a software simulator is its processing time,udespecially in the cases of real-time simulation.udParallel processing provides a viable mean toudreduce the computing time and is thereforeudsuitable for building real-time simulators. In thisudpaper, we present different issues related toudsolving the power distribution system withudparallel computing based on a multiple-CPUudserver and we will concentrate, in particular, onudthe speedup performance of such an approach.
