Technique et couleurs employées dans la chapelle historiée par le moine Denys de Fourna : étude d'une peinture murale athonite.

Denys of Fourna, a monk of Mount Athos, is known for his Manual of Iconography and his wall paintings in the chapel of the kellion where he lived. This paintings are dated from 1701-171 1 and have been restored by the monk himself about 1731. A study by stratigraphy and chemical analysis let us identify the nature of the binders and coatings. The pigments were identified by X microanalysis (SEM-EDS). The results have shown that the monk did not always respect the rules stated by himself in his handbook. It would be a contribution to the conservation-restoration of painting works.
