Réflexions sur l'écologie, l'origine et la distribution des Chrysomélides (Col.), des Iles Mascareignes, Océan Indien, avec la description de deux espèces nouvelles

The chrysomelidian fauna of the mascarenes, oceanic islands, is very pour, and exclusively of africane-malagassic origin, with some indian influence. Alticinae and Eumolpinae are prédominent and composed of endemic genera and species of which the host-plant is rarely known. Due to the extreme scarcity of the specimens most of the collections have been done with a sweeping net. Destruction of the original ecosystem, mainly in the lowlands, has certainly modified strongly the distribution and frequency of the original fauna. New species of the genus Chaetocnema and Lema are described below.
