Constructions et paysages en pierre sèche en Méditerranée : pour une reconversion en souplesse (Drystone building and landscapes in the Mediterranean area : for a flexible reconversion)

Abstract. - Drystone walling in the mediterranean area is a mostly peasant technique, used for country planning. Examined here through three different case studies, it is found to be a still appreciated and viable technique but a neglected one because of the evolution of the societies that have developped it. Its transmission should be attempted in the name of its adaptability to certain types of soils and activities and of its contribution to the emergence of life styles tightly depended on landscapes. Lastly, its use for new needs is not to be proved.
