Christologie de la figure (Gestalt) et christologie de la kénose chez Balthasar

Balthasar's Christology developed around a notion due to Goethe, the notion of « figure » (Gestalt). Quite a number of commentators have scrutinized the complex origins of that notion, which is connected with that of « form » (Form). This study intends to show how surprisingly protean the notion of « figure » is by analysing the inner link there is with the notions of «uniqueness» (Einmaligkeit), « kenosis », or « holding in reserve » (Hinterlegung). When regarded through those categories, Balthasar's Christology reveals alls that links it with Karl Barth's way of thinking and makes it impossible to compare it, in whatever way, with any transcendental Christology inspired by Karl Rahner.
