Production et accumulation de sédiments biogènes dans les estrans sableux (Production and accumulation of biogenetics sediments in sandy beaches)

Abstract. - Shells of marine organisms produce renewable sediments on beaches. On the sandy beach of Combrit in the south-Finistère (western Brittany, France), the samples of sand of the shore show amounts of organogenic calcium carbonate between 7 and 46,5%. By examining and numbering calcareous and siliceous composants in the samples of sediment, it is possible to identify organisms that produce bioclastic particules and their habitats and to understand their accumulation on the shore. The results show the importance of local drift from the foreshore and rocky shores.
