The image of the sea and Aegean islands in ancient literature and, to a certain extent, in contemporary literature, constitutes the general context of this article in order to broach the enunciation of the subject (sea and islands) in the Aeneid, Pharsalia and Aelius Aristide's speech To the Aegean Sea.
