Une mesure de l'utilisation des équipements productifs à partir de la consommation d'électricité des entreprises en France

A detailed knowledge of the evolution of utilisation equipment is of great practical importance, for instance for anyone who wants to analyze the investment behaviour of the firms or to interpret the sizable variation of industrialing-productivity, pricing or foreign exchange. Through lack of statistical long term series concerning this economic field, many papers have pointed out the possibility to build an utilisation of equipment variable from firms energy consumption and specially electricity. This paper is aimed at laiding out the methodology foundations and empirical construction of this indicator for the French economy. Introducing this variable on the estimation of production function is likely to be relevant and as the best performances among all the supply variables considered in this study.
