In view of the fact that the number of 2-year-olds who attend nursery school has increased enormously, a multi-disciplinary group, « Petite enfance », has begun a study to find the best ways of ensuring early prevention of problems, especially psychological ones. This concerted work between care-givers and families has led to the setting up of a program aimed at helping a child become familiar with his or her nursery school before actually entering it. It has also led to discussions among families about alternative solutions to leaving children in schools for prolonged periods of time. (Some children spend as much as 11 or 12 hours a day in a nursery school.)
