Quelques observations sur l'intégration visuelle des trois dimensions de l'espace

Summary Some wooden blocks, varying in width, height and depth, are presented during 250 ms, abreast and sideways with angles of 10, 20, and 30 degrees from the frontal plan ; 15 subjects with clinically normal vision estimate the size of each dimension, by means of a categorical judgment on a five points scale. It appears that only the transmission of the depth is influenced by the orientation of the blocks, the evaluation of the size of a face being affected only by a very oblique perspective. Moreover, the three dimensions are very independently identified. However, the judgment of depth is influenced by the height and even more by the width, but only when the foreface is orientee either in the frontal plan or very obliquely. These observations are interpreted in terms of perceptual confrontation and equilibration of the three spacial dimensions.
