Un ensemble de fosses rubéfiées du premier Âge du fer à Pérignat-les-Sarlièves (Puy-de-Dôme)

ABSTRACT Emergency excavations have enabled us to discover four rubefied trenches laid out in a straight line and dug in the same style. They can be dated to the early Iron Age. They have been filled from the bottom upwards with one layer of big blocks of stone surrounded by ashes and charcoal. These characteristics together with ethnographic comparisons enable us to put forward the idea of their being ovens of a Polynesian type. The way in which they would have been used seems to be something other than usual domestic use, perhaps for occasional gatherings of the population.
