SUMMARY. — This paper examines « weight » and « gravity » throughout the text of the Principia. The aim is to note how these concepts found their place within the new mechanics and how they acquired universality. I analyze their links with theory as well as the important role played by pendulum oscillations. As preliminary are resumed the useful concepts. An annex provides an analysis of the strange proposition in which the theory of pendulum is given.
