Réhabilitation et reconquête d'un quartier de front d'eau : l'exemple d'Old Sacramento, Californie

Old Sacramento, the historic district of the Capital of California, has been undergoing a major functional change for the past thirty years, as well as a total physical change. Formerly a depressed inner-city neighborhood, it became a M. U.D. organized around a recreation of the 49er era. As an early experience in the rehabilitation of a waterfront historic district, it is similar to projects that took place in North America later in the seventies. This article examines the changes undergone by this neighborhood ; it also analyses the motivations, the process and the actors involved in this transformation, along with elements of comparison with other similar cases.
