Abstract The chance discovery at Evans (Jura) of a Late Bronze Age hoard consisting of some forty vessels represents an exceptional event for our knowledge of this type of hoard of prestige goods in France and Western Europe. The study at present being undertaken of the various types of vessels represented (cauldron, strainers, flasks, cups and bowls), which it has in common with the hoard from Blanot (Côte-d'Or) on the one hand and with certain Central European hoards on the other, should enable new ideas to be proposed with regard to our way of considering llth-lOth-century ВС bronzeware in Western Europe and the symbolic aspect of these specific groups of artefacts.
