Question typologique à propos des industries laminaires du paléolithique moyen de Seclin (Nord) et de Saint-Germain-des-Vaux/Port-Racine (Manche) : lames levallois ou lames non levallois ?

ABSTRACT Middle palaeolithic sites of Seclin (Nord, France) and Saint-Germain- des-Vaux/Port-Racine (Manche, France) have yielded lithic industries that belong to the beginning of the last glacial period. The technological study of laminar « débitage » is based on the analysis of artefacts and refitting groups. It demonstrated the existence of a recurrence principle inherent in a succesive production of blades. This principle is at the origin of many mistakes in the typological identification of Levallois blades. Therefore the term of Levallois blades may have to be attributed to blades bearing the negatives of non laminar predetermining removals destined to the preparation of a Levallois surface. On the upper face of these blades these negatives have converging directions.
