The sale of Church's and of exiles'properties by the Revolution has been the cause of a large transfer of properties and of important social transformations. To measure them, it is necessary to use a uniform method of analyse and, above all, of treating the data, and of a single system of establishing results. The use of the computer must make the work of the researcher easier. It is to carry out this program that a team of researchers from Rouen University has devised a computing method which will make comparison between different studies possible and will produce in the end a trustworthy synthesis on this important problem of social history.
