• In the Roman eastern Ulyricum, particularly in its Danubian and Adriatic borders, th main fortress'name in a valley was often the same as the river's. Most of linguists and historiar thought that the river gave its name to the town or castle. According to a text from Vibius Sequeste we believe it was an opposite evolution : the place-name made the river-name. We must connea this fact with the territorial reorganisation of Roman Ulyricum by the Roman state from August to Justinian.
