Geomorphological and sedimentological (pebbles composition, X ray and heavy mineral analysis) studies have made it possible to identify and link the different alluvial outcrops from upstream to downstream in the Aude basin. The reconstruction of longitudinal profiles along the terraces shows the evolution of tectonic deformation from their deposition. The uplift of the Tourouzelle unit and of the nappe des Corbières is responsible of the knick points, the sphting in two parts of the middle terrace and the alterations in the course of the Aude and Cesse.
