Une stèle anthropomorphe et à double face à Lennon (Finistère)

This stele was discovered in October 1987 in a wall at Lennon (Finistère). It has been carved out of the local rock, arkosic sandstone. Although severely damaged, it shows on his top two heads standing back to back. On one of these the facial features are worïced out in light relief, whereas the second face is originally smooth even. Both heads are separed from each other by a thick roll which could be likened to a knot of hair. A similar pattern is extended on face A. It may be assumed by comparison that this stèle belongs to the La Tene age and that it represents a divinity whose dual character - life and death likely - is clearly stressed.
