Comparison of digital terrain models produced from airborne laser scanning and digital photogrammetry on a section of the Krško valley

The purpose of this diploma thesis is to present and compare the three different digital terrainudmodels: laser DTM, DMV 5 and DMR 12.5. The first model was made with a laser scanner, theudsecond with a photogrammetric method from stereo pairs and the third with a special methodudfrom different datasets. In the theoretical section, some basics about DTM are explained. Withudthe presentation of separate models, I was more focused on DMV 5. This is a new model whichudcovers the entire Slovenian territory. Since not much has been written about this model, I decidedudto focus on it. I analysed the accuracy and quality of all three DTM on the test territory, whichudspans a section of the Krško valley. The basic idea was to use an accurate laser model (accuracyud10-30 cm) to check the accuracy of DMV 5 and DMR 12.5 (the accuracy of both models is 1udmeter and more). First, I used cadastre points to check the accuracy of a laser DTM, which turnedudout to be adequate for purposes of this diploma. Then, the comparison continued with the methodudof subtracting the two height models. The results are presented numerically and graphically. Forudoverall description of DTM quality, visual quality is very important. This is why the thesisudincludes a lot of visualisations of all three height models from the test area. They are a source ofudinformation about the models’ visual quality. In the supplement, I included several visualisationsudof DMV 5 and DMR 12.5 on some other typical areas of Slovenia (flat land, hills, karst region,udmountains).
