The thesis speaks about dangerous and potentially dangerous spots on national roads. It is based upon a database of 984 dangerous and potentially dangerous spots, which was created in cooperation with representatives of the majority of Slovenian municipalities. On the basis of this database and an analysis of the current situation a typization of problems repeatedly occurring on recorded locations and a typization of solutions, which would most probably solve the occurred problems, is created. At least one type of problem and at least one type of solution is attached to every location. By analyzing the combinations of determined types of problems and suggested types of solutions, typization of combinations of typical solutions for typical problems is made.udBesides the study on the problematics of the dangerous and potentially dangerous spots the thesis also deals with ways for ranking recorded locations according to the number of traffic accidents, the type of injuries people involved suffered and traffic load. On the basis of these types of ranking a combined and unbiased ranking system SNPOP is suggested, by which accident rate, priority value and transportation work are taken into account. According to the SNPOP ranking, five locations were chosen among the most dangerous spots, for which suggestions for reconstruction are created on the design level. With the usage of these reconstruction suggestions an analysis of traffic safety is made to determine whether the reconstruction measures raise the traffic safety in comparison to existing road conditions.
